Welcome to the Big Sky Institute
The Big Sky Institute (BSI) is an interdisciplinary science, education, and outreach institute that was created by Montana State University and like-minded members of the community to transform the role of science in our society by advancing and communicating objective and relevant place-based science and to increase the understanding and appreciation of the globally significant Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE). BSI is the only university-based institute entirely focused on the GYE.

Tickets go on sale this week for the Big Sky Institute’s Evening Gala, which will be held on Saturday, August 2 at the BSI site adjacent to Ophir School. The event, which has sold out for the past two years, is fast becoming the can’t-miss ticket in summer charitable events in Big Sky.
2 weeks 2 days agoThe Greater Yellowstone Science Learning Center is announcing the debut of their new website, www.greateryellowstonescience.org. BSI has worked intimately with Yellowstone National Park and a variety of other constituencies to design and develop the site. Information can be found on a number of topics from amphibians, to geothermal features, to historic structures. Click here to read the press release.
